Machete Bar
About This Spot
Stepping into Machete Bar, you’re welcomed by the laid-back rhythm of a true neighborhood retreat. The space hums with friendly chatter and the occasional clink of glasses, a calm that invites you to slow down and enjoy the moment without hurry. It’s the kind of place where familiar faces exchange stories over well-crafted drinks, and new visitors quickly feel at ease amid the gentle buzz.
The atmosphere is refreshingly unpretentious—somewhere between a chill gathering spot and a craft beer enthusiast’s haven. Machete Bar strikes a balance between lively and relaxed, making it a natural meeting point for friends looking to unwind after a long day or savor a casual weekend evening. The bartenders, approachable and attentive, add a personal touch, enhancing that sense of connection that makes regulars return.
While the focus here is certainly on the drinks, Machete Bar offers more than just a selection to sip. Their beer lineup leans into the world of IPAs, hazy styles, and also boasts some unexpected favorites for those who prefer darker, richer brews. Alongside, you’ll find cold brews, refreshing ciders, and inventive takes on classics like the michelada, all curated to complement a relaxed pace of conversation. The open policy welcoming outside food means you can easily pair your drink with a bite from local eateries, allowing for a flexible and personal experience.
Parking may require a little patience, but that small inconvenience fades quickly as you settle into the warm, easy vibe that threads through the bar. Whether you come for a quiet drink or to share laughs over a round of different beers, Machete Bar feels like a natural extension of the neighborhood—a place where the joy isn’t just in the drink but in who you share it with.

Chill spot to hang out with friends. They have a lot of IPA beers if your a fan of those and the bartenders are pretty nice. I believe I tried around 5 different beers because I personally don’t like IPAs at all nor do I like super light beer that tastes watered down. I had a stout and it wasn’t too bad but it wasn’t as creamy as I hoped it would be. Hence the 4/5 stars because I wish they had more of a stout selection. Otherwise chill atmosphere, the women’s restroom is cute and there’s seating outside, inside, and at the bar.

One of the best if not the best local hang out's I've been to in awhile! This place has a great section of craft beers on tap, and awesome atmosphere to enjoy a good time with friends. Place is a bit small, but I enjoy the great music and craft beers which make up for the small location. Another plus is that you can walk next door to Salud (Mexican Restaurant) which in my opinion serves some of the best food in National City and bring it back into Machete's Beer House to enjoy. The staff were very friendly and attentive to all customers and even help you pick a good beer you enjoy drinking. I will definitely be coming back here again very soon from LA.
